【VOL.2】 Iwamura En × Yoshida Rikuto

Exhibition overview

This will be the second time to exhibit at this corner. We will introduce two artists: Iwamura En with an atelier in Shigaraki, Konan, and Yoshida Rikuto, a member of Atelier Yamanami in Koka, Konan. Iwamura’s pop works, produced by traditional ceramic techniques, and Yoshida’s graphical works, created by drawing over photographs, both affecting us feeling an affinity with street culture, show us a new aspect of “Arts and Crafts Nurtured in Shiga”.

Closed every Monday (however, open on holidays and closed on the following Tuesday)
※ Closed for Renovation from December 21, 2023 (Thu) to April 20, 2024 (Sat).

Artist profile

Iwamura En

1988 Born in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto.
2011 Graduated Ceramic Course, Department of Craft, the Kanazawa College of Art.
2013 Graduated the same college’s Research Department of Fine Art and Craft Master’s Course of Sculpture.
2016 Graduates Clemson University graduate school (South Carolina, USA).
He creates based on various inspirations from ancient cultures to modern comics and graphic art. Iwamura’s works that combine a contemporary pop style with the carving lines referring to Dogu clay figures and forms similar to Haniwa clay images are easy to enjoy and evoke the appearance of these magical figures from ancient times.

Yoshida Rikuto

1998 Born Koka Shiga.
2017 Joins Atelier Yamanami.
One day picking up a fashion magazine that caught his eye and letting his pen run over the pictures within, he began making works. Since then, he has created works in his unique style.
