MUSEUM/GALLERY

Shiga Museum of Art

Open in 1984 as the Museum of Modern Art, Shiga. After closing briefly it underwent renovations and reopened as Shiga Museum of Art in 2021. Featuring collections of Japanese artists such as Ogura Yuki and textile and dye artists Shimura Fukumi as well as works of post-war American artists like Mark Rothko and Robert Rauschenberg. Since 2016 it has also been charged with collecting works of Art Brut.
